I went into Apulanta's concert last night and it was certainly something. Sorry, this will probably not tell you much; Apulanta is a Finnish punk-rock band that sings Finnish. Their lyrics are killer, but how many non-Finnish will ever understand? So sad. My legs feel like noodles now. I jumped and danced and sang along two hours plus rather long encore. I even screamed and I always thought that would be too embarrassing! About those lyrics, maybe this very raw translation gives you a hunch. There is much talking about the meaning of Japanese names, but most names have originally meant something. Make that all, actually. Here comes example from my family: I have three names. My first name is a Finnish variation of my thirdth name. It is a Latin name that means "star of the sea." It can also mean "a wanted child" in Hebrew. Guess that makes me twice wanted! Yay! My second name is is originally a Hebrew name. It's a (rather universal) variation of Hannah that means "favoured grace." I don't think you will figure out my first name, it looks so different you wouldn't guess where it comes from if you didn't know the etymology, but who knows? Try! My sister has two names. Her first name is a feminization of a Latin name Laurentius that means "laurel leaf." Her second name is a feminized version of originally masculine Hebrew name that means "God is gracious." It's not Finnish only variation, but rare in English. My brother has two names. His first name is a Finnish only version of the same name my sister's name comes from. God has graces us pretty much, it seems! His second name comes from Aramaic name Toomas that means "twin" (though he has no twin.) It's a Finnish variation too. Can anyone guess everything right? I like the changes in lj. Pink, oh so pretty and in time for Valentine's day even. I got chocolate, heart-shaped red candlestick and candles from my boyfriend and I gave him a heart that will radiate warmth when it's pressed and a little stuffed teddy bear.
